Intro to Zen Meditation

  • When: First Monday of every month

  • Where: Open Gate Zendo (Chula Vista)

  • Time: 7 pm - 8:30 pm

  • Bring/Wear: Loose, comfortable clothing

  • Support: Freely offered (Dana / voluntary generosity appreciated)

Whether you are stepping onto a cushion for the first time or seeking to ground your meditation in the Zen tradition, our introductory gathering provides a warm, supportive space to explore.

This session offers a clear overview of Zen Buddhism—touching on its origins, core teachings, and the simple rhythm and etiquette of our zendo (meditation hall). You will receive practical guidance in zazen (seated meditation), learning how to settle the body and mind, cultivate focused attention, and find a stable, comfortable posture using cushions, benches, or chairs.

No prior experience is necessary, and questions are always welcome. Come as you are, bring your curiosity, and join us in practice.
