Open Gate Zen Collective
Practice Period 2024
June 21st - July 28th
36 Day practice period.
It is a beautiful reminder of our everyday life practice, How our ordinary life becomes the way of a Buddha. It is our annual intensive practice period; we will study the Teachings of Bodhidharma our first Zen ancestor.
During a Practice Period, we intensify our daily practice by sitting zazen more frequently, studying in classes, having private interviews with Sensei Shinzan, engaging in council practice, one Zazen Day, and having a Zen Weekend Retreat at the end of the Practice Period, And also we will have seminars for the year 2024-2025 exploring and study the book "Teachings of Bodhidharma" by Red Pine
All participants will choose the level of their commitment. They are creating their realistic schedule. We will support each other through a buddy system.
